Pune: After the rapid increase in human metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection in China, its patients are also appearing in India. For the first time in the country, two children were diagnosed with HMPV in Bangalore. After that the patients are gradually increasing and now it is being said that the patients of this virus have been detected in the state as well. Former Epidemic Survey Officer of Maharashtra informed that this virus with a difficult name is very mild. Given by Pradeep Awte. Also, last year in India, 172 patients of this infection were detected by various laboratories. He also said that the special thing is that no patient died in this. "There is some news coming from China about human metapneumovirus. However, this virus is not important enough to think about. This virus is not new but very old virus. This virus has been known to the medical world for twenty to twenty five years. Also in India till December last year We had 172 patients detected by various laboratories. None of them died. This virus is a very mild type and it causes colds and coughs," said Awte. He further said, "We have many viruses like HMPV virus. It is one of the same group of viruses that are responsible for the common colds that increase in winter or early summer. So there is no reason to worry. However, in immunocompromised individuals, it is rare. The virus can be serious. But there is no need to panic. This disease can be cured by home treatment. "There is no vaccine for this disease. Therefore, simple things should be done such as washing your hands frequently, wearing a mask if you have a cold and coughing, reducing public contact, not touching your nose frequently, eating well, and getting enough sleep," said Dr. Awte said. He also said that we should take the same precautions that we take after catching a cold and cough.
