Trump’s lawyer stated the request aims to allow the incoming administration to negotiate a political resolution to the dispute. The law was passed by Congress and signed by President Joe Biden in April. It mandates that the app’s Chinese owner, ByteDance, divests its stake to address national security concerns. The app’s legal team asserts it violates First Amendment rights. The Supreme Court will hear arguments on January 10th.
