China's navy has launched the first of a new class of amphibious assault ship at a ceremony in Shanghai. The Type 076 ship, named "Sichuan," is a light aircraft carrier with an electromagnetic catapult for smaller aircraft such as drones or possibly even fighter jets. Experts suggest it could play a role in a potential invasion of Taiwan.
