Tony Blair’s former spin doctor, Peter Mandelson, is set to become the UK’s ambassador to the US.
Mandelson was a key figure in the ‘New Labour’ revolution that saw Blair rise to power in the 1990’s.
He also took up posts at the European Commission and is currently a member of the UK’s House of Lords.
Diplomats across the world have welcomed the decision, and say it’s a shrewd move from Britain’s Prime Minister, Keir Starmer.
But others harbour worries over the political baggage that Mandelson may bring.
