Zoe Ball signed off her final BBC Radio 2 show, saying that fronting the show was a “gift” and hopes she “managed to bring some sunshine and light” to listeners when they most needed it.The radio presenter, 54, received messages from singer Kylie Minogue, England footballer Alessia Russo and Doctor Who star David Tennant, as she said goodbye to her breakfast programme for the final time on Friday.Ending the show, she shared her gratitude for being the first female to front the station’s breakfast show and urged fellow woman “you can do anything”.She said: “It's been such a gift to do this show and follow the wonderful Terry [Wogan] and of course, Chris [Evans] tough acts to follow, pretty cool to be the first lass to host and I won't be the last, remember girls, you can do anything.Ball then thanked her listeners, saying: “It’s been a real privilege to keep your company through your morning manoeuvres.Before playing the final song, Keeping The Dream Alive, Ball said: “I have most definitely felt that love from you listeners. I feel very lucky to have been here.Ball also gave a shout-out to “all the marvellous folk who work at Radio 2, our boss, Helen (Thomas), she has a tough job but she does it with great care. I have so much respect for her”.She also told staff, including security guards, cleaners, presenters and the production team, that “you’re all wonderful and you’ve made our show so fun”.Prior to her final words, Ball was left in tears as her team surprised her with a tribute from listeners, previous guests and a message from her son, Woody, after clip played revealing he gave her the push to join the breakfast show.He said: “Hey mum, you've done such an amazing job on the Breakfast Show, I just want to say thank you for making everyone's mornings a bit more magic - and here's to a healthier sleeping schedule, love Woody”.
