Torch light parade honors Nobel Peace Prize winner, Japan’s atomic bomb survivors' group
Representatives for the atomic bomb survivors group Nihon Hidankyo greeted hundreds of people who had marched in a torch light parade in Oslo, after receiving the Nobel Peace Prize earlier on Tuesday, December 10.
Nihon Hidankyo, a grassroots movement of survivors of the 1945 nuclear bombings of Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki, was represented by co-chair Terumi Tanaka, 92, Shigemitsu Tanaka, 84, and Toshiyuki Mimaki, 82.
The laureates greeted the parade, which was marching in their honor, by waving from the balcony of the Grand Hotel where the Nobel festivities end with a banquet.
