China has called for a political settlement of the crisis in Syria after a lightning rebel advance seized control of Damascus and ended the rule of Bashar al-Assad.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning says China is hoping the “relevant parties will bear in mind the long-term and fundamental interests of the Syrian people.”
