Musicians who played in Glasgow’s now closed down Virgin Hotel are appealing for payment

More than 80 musicians and politicians have written a letter to billionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson asking for payments for performing at Glasgow’s Virgin Hotel which is now closed down.

The former premise owes thousands of pounds to artists it hired to play in the time period between August and December 2023 from when it opened and closed.

One of the musicians David Toule decided to take action after receiving no communication.

The letter appeals to Richard Branson, who did not own the hotel but did co-found the hotel brand.

He wrote it was irresponsible for the group to book musical entertainment if there was even the slightest unlikelihood that they would not be paid for their work.

He said it put so many through emotional and financial turmoil.

Multiple artists are now boycotting the hotel chain.

The letter was sent to two of Branson’s addresses though a spokesperson claimed he did not receive them.
