President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead a commission aimed at reducing government spending and targeting regulations for elimination. The new Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, began recruiting what they called high-IQ revolutionaries for unpaid, full-time roles in cost-cutting. Musk stated that the unpaid jobs would involve tedious work, making enemies, but ultimately benefit America. Musk advocated for cutting grants to nonprofits, arguing they act as an "illegal arm of the government" and contradict their non-governmental status.
