City Hospital in Birmingham, located on Dudley Road, has officially closed its doors after more than a century of service, first opening as an infirmary in 1897. Final steps were taken to transfer all emergency and acute services to the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in Smethwick, with 320 patients safely relocated as part of the move.
