2024 is "virtually certain" to be the hottest year ever, says the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S). EU climate monitor C3S said this year will probably be more than 1.55C above the pre-industrial average. October was the second hottest October on record, seeing above-average rainfall across Europe, China, the U.S., Brazil and Australia. Copernicus says its report should sharpen the minds of delegates at November’s COP29 climate talks in Azerbaijan.
