The air quality in Lahore, Pakistan's second-largest city, has reached hazardous levels amid deepening health concerns for its residents.

Hospitals in Lahore report a significant surge in admissions, predominantly children and the elderly, due to smog-related illnesses such as respiratory problems, asthma, and cardiovascular diseases.

Lahore's air quality index reached 609, ranking it among the world's most polluted cities. Experts attribute the smog to industrial emissions, vehicle exhaust, crop burning and construction dust.
