Once again there will be no public firework displays in Glasgow on Bonfire’s Night 2024, but there will be some events just a short drive out of the city.
Glasgow Life has said the estimated cost of hosting one would be £350,000 which is too expensive.
Here are a few nearby events taking place on 5 November.
Strathclyde Park is hosting its annual bonfire and fireworks show alongside The Big Feed kitchen, near the Hamilton area the site is easily accessible from the M8.
The event will run from 5.30 to 9 pm with the bonfire starting at 6.30 and fireworks display at 7.30 and entry is free.
Easterhouse Parish Church is hosting an event from 5 to 7 pm with tickets priced at £4.50 and includes a burger or hotdog, hot drink, a sparkler and access to view the display.
A display is also taking place in Giffnock at the GHA Rugby Club from 6 to 9pm.
Family tickets are available and under 5’s go free.
Glasgow has not had a fireworks display itself since before the pandemic in 2019, as there used to be an annual event in Glasgow Green.
