Typhoon Kong-rey uproots trees, floods Taiwan
A strong Typhoon Kong-rey causes severe flooding to inundate Taiwan’s remote areas, damaging vehicles and houses after it made landfall on the island’s east coast on Oct. 31, 2024. The typhoon knocked out power to nearly half a million households while almost 10,000 people have been evacuated from high risk areas ahead of time, the government said. Kong-rey is the largest storm by size to hit the island in nearly 30 years, with strong winds and torrential rain affecting almost all the island.
