Londoners 'shape up' with giant Tetris game for 40th anniversary

London hosted a giant interactive multiplayer Tetris game on Monday, October 28, to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

The event, which took place at central London’s large LED screen entertainment venue, Outernet, was the one of the biggest multiplayer Tetris game to ever take place, according to the organizers.

The games were open to the public for free and participants scanned a QR code and downloaded an app to take part.

Seven players at once controlled their individually colored pieces as they fell from the screens to compete with other players in the space.

Tetris was invented in 1984 by Russian software Engineer Alexey Pajitnov, and according to the Tetris brand, billions of games are played each year online.
