Elsie Pearman, a care home resident who has lived under five monarchs, celebrated her 108th birthday at Dyneley House in Chapel Allerton.
Born in 1916, she worked as a nurse in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. Mrs Pearman spent the first 20 years of her life in Sunderland before moving to Newcastle with her work in the civil service.
She described her birthday celebrations, which included a special visit from the Lord Mayor of Leeds Coun Abigail Marshall Katung.
