Generic Reviews - "Conan the Destroyer (1984)"

2009-05-08 8

I try to branch out into reviewing something besides Sega Genesis games. I fail miserably at it. Seriously, I'm not too happy with it. Watch as I'm horribly out of my league doing this sort of thing. If you're lucky, this'll get taken down for copyright infringement or something like that.

Otherwise, this movie is the sequel to the, in my opinion, great movie "Mr. Generic." "Generic II," however, is living proof that there's only one thing that rules in Hollywood: The quest for more money at any cost. It tried to emulate the kid-friendly blockbusters like "E.T" and "Return of the Jedi" at a much lower budget but failed to capture any of the quality that made those movies good. It's alright if you want to laugh at a cheaply-made B-movie, but the constant forced humor just kills any momentum this movie may have had.

DISCLAIMER: I did not get the idea to review this movie because of the Nostalgia Critic's review of "Red Sonja." I had the idea of doing this movie as a review back in late 2007. The script to this review was also being written when I found out that he was doing it (about a week before he released it). It was a great review, but I'm not trying to steal any of his "thunder" by doing this.
