Vietnamese property tycoon Truong My Lan now faces life in prison on top of a death sentence after a Ho Chi Minh City court found her guilty of money laundering. In April, Truong was sentenced to death for defrauding US$27 billion, the equivalent of 6% of Vietnam’s GDP.
