The Pentagon reported that the U.S. military launched a dozen interceptors in response to Iranian ballistic missiles fired at Israel. President Joe Biden confirmed U.S. support for Israel's defense, stating he directed military involvement. The Israeli military reported that around 180 missiles were launched by Iran, most of which were intercepted. Maj Gen Patrick Ryder confirmed that two U.S. Navy destroyers fired interceptors at missiles believed to have been launched from Iran. However, he did not confirm whether the interceptors successfully hit any missiles, stating that further information was pending.
