The "steady leadership” of Kamala Harris as president is what is needed to support Israel against Iran, Gov. Tim Walz said during the vice presidential debate with Sen. JD Vance on Tuesday.
“Israel's ability to be able to defend itself is absolutely fundamental, getting its hostages back—fundamental,” Walz said.

Walz also celebrated the U.S. support in defending Israel against an Iranian air attack.
Walz said former President Donald Trump was not qualified to lead the country and that “what's fundamental here is that steady leadership is going to matter.”

“Donald Trump talking about crowd sizes is not what we need in this moment,” Walz said, in reference to the former president's performance in the latest presidential debate with Harris.

Vance and Walz are facing each other in their first and possibly last vice presidential debate, hosted by CBS in New York.

Both are relatively unknown to the broader American public. Walz was a U.S. House member before becoming governor of Minnesota. Vance is in his first term as a senator from Ohio.
