Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib says U.S. intervention is vital to help solve the current conflict with Israel, saying almost half a million of his people had been displaced.
The fighting has raised fears of a protracted war that could suck in the U.S., Israel's close ally, and Iran - especially if Israel launches, and gets bogged down in, a ground offensive in southern Lebanon.
