Road safety activists in Taiwan are calling for stricter punishment of drunk drivers. They've proposed amending the Criminal Code to increase the sentence for drunken driving to up to life imprisonment. So far in 2024, Taiwan has reported over 38,000 cases of drunken driving, with 39 of those ending in death.
