Starbucks announced the retirement of Michael Conway, its North American CEO, after eleven years with the company. Conway, who took over the role in April, will remain an executive adviser through the end of 2024. His departure coincides with the turnaround strategy of newly-appointed CEO Brian Niccol, who plans to enhance U.S. operations by focusing on timely service and reviving the coffeehouse culture. Sarah Trilling, head of North America retail operations, will report directly to Niccol, and the company will not fill the North America CEO position.
