(From: AUTO SPORT（オートスポーツ）No.364, 15 February 1983) Satoru Nakajima was invited to the JPS Team Lotus test run at Donington Park on 7 December 1982, and despite the bad weather, he completed his first F1 drive with ease. After 40 laps, he set the fastest time of the day on lap 26 with a 1m12.28, impressing the Lotus team and earning him high praise as a potential replacement. Nakajima, who said he was "surprised by the power, but I drove well", had made a big step towards his dream of becoming an F1 driver.
