German police fatally shot a suspect after an exchange of gunfire near the Israeli consulate and a Nazi history museum in Munich.
The incident occurred on the anniversary of the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre. The suspect, who had recently traveled from Austria, was later revealed as an 18 year old Austrian known as an Islamist to the authorities.
Investigations are ongoing to determine if the attack was linked to the commemoration. No civilians or consulate staff were harmed.
