Tribal rituals include a variety of practices, such as:
Trance dance
A sacred dance performed by the Sans' community to communicate with ancestral spirits. Elders and healers lead the dance around a fire, chanting and breathing deeply until they reach a trance state.
Motor or pator system
A self-restriction ritual performed by the Adi community where they lock down villages to prevent outsiders from entering. This ritual is believed to allow shamans to locate wild herbs to fight epidemics.
Religious events
Indian tribals participate in religious events throughout the year to bring about social camaraderie and solidarity.
Marriage
Tribal people conduct marriages according to their tribal customs.
Post-childbirth rituals
Some tribal traditions include serving boiled ajwain water to a woman after childbirth, or giving boiled pipli to increase milk production.
