Officer Found Shot in Patrol Car
The situation began around 10 p.m. when a call went out for an officer in distress. Fellow officers discovered one of their own suffering from a gunshot wound in a marked patrol car. The urgency of the situation quickly intensified as more officers arrived on the scene.

Gunfire Erupts: Two Officers Injured, One Killed
Responding officers were met with gunfire from a suspect at the scene. In the exchange, two officers were shot and injured. Dallas Fire Rescue arrived swiftly, and the injured officers were rushed to nearby hospitals. Sadly, one of the officers succumbed to his injuries that evening. Another officer remains in critical condition, while the third is in stable condition.

A Grim Statistic: Line-of-Duty Deaths Continue to Rise
This tragic incident adds to the growing number of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty this year. According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, at least 93 officers have lost their lives, with 38 of those deaths resulting from gunfire.

Suspect Pursued and Killed in Lewisville
The suspect involved in the shootout fled the scene in a vehicle, prompting a police pursuit that ended in Lewisville, a city north of Dallas. Upon exiting the vehicle with a long gun, the suspect was shot by Dallas Police officers and pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations at both the original scene in Dallas and the final location in Lewisville are ongoing.
