China urged the United States to take substantial cuts to its nuclear arsenal, so as to safeguard world peace and stability with concrete actions, a spokesman for China's Ministry of National Defense said.
"China firmly opposes the U.S. expanding its nuclear arsenal and shirking its responsibilities for nuclear disarmament under the pretext of the non-existent 'China nuclear threat'.
China pursues a nuclear strategy of self-defense, and keeps its nuclear force at the minimum level required for national security," said spokesman Wu Qian.
