Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine has successfully carried out its first test of a domestically-produced ballistic missile.
This milestone comes amid a backdrop of intense Russian attacks that have targeted energy infrastructure and claimed lives across the country.
"There has been a positive test of the first Ukrainian ballistic missile. I congratulate our defense industry on this achievement," Zelenskyy stated during a press conference in Kyiv.
While details remain under wraps, this development marks a significant step in Ukraine's push to bolster its own military production and reduce reliance on Western aid.
This announcement follows last week's revelation that Ukraine has deployed a new long-range "rocket drone" named Palianytsia in combat. Kyiv continues to strengthen its defense capabilities, recently signing agreements with Western arms companies to produce small arms and ammunition domestically.
