On Saturday night, 38-year-old Ryan Evans, a British safety adviser, was staying at the Hotel Sapphire in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine when a Russian missile struck. The attack left Evans dead and two other members of the six-person Reuters team injured, requiring hospitalization.

Iskander-M Missile: The Weapon Behind the Destruction
Local authorities revealed that the missile responsible for the attack was an Iskander-M Russian ballistic missile. The explosion caused severe injuries, including blast wounds, concussions, and deep cuts among those present. The once-standing Hotel Sapphire was reduced to rubble, with rescue operations continuing hours after the attack.

Wider Destruction: Collateral Damage in Donetsk
The damage wasn't limited to the hotel alone. A nearby multistory building was also destroyed, adding to the devastation in the area. Donetsk regional Governor Vadym Filashkin reported significant damage to the infrastructure, highlighting the broader impact of the missile strike.

Kharkiv Region: Continued Violence and Civilian Casualties
The violence in Ukraine's eastern regions continues to escalate. The Kharkiv region, in particular, has faced relentless Russian fire. According to regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov, multiple civilians were injured in various attacks across the region.
