The Tattoo in 2008 featured it's own Highland Spring Dance troupe which joined forces with 50 dancers from Canada in a dance piece that tells the story of Scottish migration to Canada.
I recorded this video after contacting the Tattoo marketing team seeking permission to film and record their live free event called Taste of the Tattoo which was a hugely popular feature while the main Tattoo event took place at the Edinburgh Castle within the Scottish capital. The video was one of the last I filmed and recorded using a Hi8 camcorder I was gifted by a member of the Edinburgh Cine and Video Society who I had been a member of for many years while living in Edinburgh.
Each Tattoo performance begis with a fanfare followed by The Massed Pipes ad Drums who perform, marching through the gatehouse of Edinburgh Castle and perform a traditional pipe bad set. The bands usually form a special formation marking each year's show and theme and usually the music featured includes a mix of different paced music.
