China Lifts Ban on Visits to Taiwan’s Matsu Islands

2024-08-23 10

China has lifted travel restrictions on visits to Taiwan's Matsu islands. Fujian province, which is closest to the islands, has resumed processing visas for independent and group travelers. Officials from Taiwan's Kinmen Islands are hopeful that tourism will also reopen for them soon, and are visiting Beijing to discuss the matter. China's travel restrictions were put in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the poor state of cross-strait relations.
