Thai PM Paetongtarn promises to 'serve everyone equally and wholeheartedly'
Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra vowed on Sunday (August 18) to serve everyone "equally," regardless of gender, age, or diversity, after she was endorsed by the king to become the country's youngest leader.
In her first press conference as the country's 31st prime minister, Paetongtarn said on Sunday that she would continue with all the policies of her predecessor and ally, Srettha Thavisin, including "major" economic stimulus and reform, tackling illegal drugs, improving the country's universal healthcare system and promoting gender diversity.
The 37-year-old said the government will not abandon its flagship digital wallet policy but will seek to "study and listen to additional options" to make sure the scheme is fiscally responsible.
