The auditor's role is crucial in uncovering the irregularities in the accounts and financial records that have been manipulated to hide the financial crimes committed, said Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.
Azam also said the accountant is responsible as the 'gate keeper' to the financial information of an organization, monitoring the company's financial flow, advising the management on the company's financial operations and if necessary reporting improprieties and irregularities to the authorities.
