With the Death Egg and the power source of the Phantom Ruby destroyed, the Resistance goes on the offensive. Sonic leads the charge, heading through the Metropolitan Highway and Eggman's defenses with ease. However, when Sonic confronts Eggman, a trap from Infinite is set and Sonic is sucked into the void known as Null Space. With help from the rookie, Sonic escapes and resumes his pursuit of Eggman.
With time running out, the Resistance launches a full-scale attack on Eggman's tower, but Infinite uses the full power of the Phantom Ruby to bring down a massive sun intended to destroy Sonic and his friends for good. The rookie goes on a desperate mission to reach the top of the Imperial Tower and use the prototype ruby to erase the sun and save the Resistance. Thanks to the rookie's efforts, Sonic blasts through the Mortar Canyon to finish this battle once and for all...
