Sunshine dappled through the farm as Jane pushed open the gate.
A sight met her eyes that warmed her heart more than the summer sun.
Her loyal dog, usually a whirlwind of happy barks, stood perfectly still, nose nudged against the side of one of her gentle donkeys.
It wasn't just any touching; the dog's whole body seemed wrapped around the donkey's middle, a furry hug checking for any sign of trouble.
The donkey, in turn, leaned into the dog's touch, a soft nicker rumbling from its throat.
