Harris defies Trump and Vance at campaign rally
During a campaign event in Atlanta on July 30, 2024 US Vice President Kamala Harris challenges Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance to meet her on the debate stage and address their criticisms directly. Harris, a potential Democratic presidential candidate, pledged to reintroduce the border security bill that Republicans blocked earlier this year. She also committed to tackling price gouging and reducing costs. A New York Times/Siena College national poll published on August 1 showed Harris narrowing Trump's significant lead, while a Wall Street Journal poll published on Friday indicated Trump held a two-point lead. Harris is emphasizing her background as a former district attorney and California attorney general, seeking to contrast herself with Trump, who is the first former president to be convicted of felony crimes.
