DAY 4: Dallas Cowboys Training Camp, DE Sam Williams Injured

2024-07-29 111

Day four of camp got underway in Oxnard California for the Dallas Cowboys, unfortunately it didn’t start too well. DE Sam Williams went down during a drill with a left knee injury and ended up being carted off the field.

We spoke with Jerry Jones following the injury and he said he was heading into town to get an MRI and that he did not like what he saw. Jones also told reporters they should know the severity of the injury by 3 p.m. PCT.

As of 3:30 PM NFLNetwork is saying Williams is said to have torn his ACL but they are still waiting on the MRI to confirm.

Williams is entering his third season with the Cowboys and a lot of eyes are going to be on him this season as Jones stated earlier this season he’s going to give the younger guys a shot.

EDGE was already a position that needed some depth work in Dallas, if Williams is out indefinitely then the Cowboys are more than likely going to have to sign a vet. Rookie Marshawn Kneeland will fill in for Williams in the time being.

Williams joined the Cowboys as a second-round pick in 2022 and he spent his first two seasons as a rotational player behind DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons. He was set to play the same role in 2024 and had 8.5 sacks over his first two seasons in Dallas.
