Trump told Bloomberg Businessweek that he would allow Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell to complete his term at the central bank if Trump wins the November election. Powell was nominated by President Biden to serve a second four-year term as Fed chair in May 2022. Powell is also a Fed governor until January 2028. This marks a change for Trump, who had a strained relationship with Powell and criticized his interest rate policies in the past. As recently as February 2024, Trump said he would not reappoint Powell, calling him "political."
