Matthew Chapter 5 begins the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus teaches the Beatitudes, proclaiming blessings on the poor in spirit, the meek, and others. He calls His followers the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Jesus also reinterprets the Law, emphasizing deeper righteousness by addressing issues like anger, adultery, divorce, oaths, retaliation, and love for enemies.
