She then became known to the general public for her portrayal of Wendy, the anguished wife of Jack Torrance in The Shining (1980) by Stanley Kubrick, and for that of Olivia Oyl, Popeye's girlfriend, in Popeye, by Robert Altman. actress, who had suffered from a severe form of diabetes for some time, died in her sleep on July 11, 2024, at her home in Blanco, Texas, at the age of 75.
