"Why does it always have to be water?" Sonic asks himself yet again as he finds himself in the Tidal Plant Zone. Just being underwater is difficult enough, but having to navigate a giant maze filled with spike traps and very badly placed Badniks is more than enough to frustrate even the most skilled Hedgehogs. After reaching the end of the maze, Sonic finally confronts Knuckles the Echidna and once again easily emerges victorious. With Knuckles out of the way, Sonic finally reaches the Atomic Destroyer, Robotnik's ultimate weapon. The biggest surprise is the sudden return of Metal Sonic, who our hero thought was destroyed on the Little Planet long ago. Once the robot doppelganger is disposed of, Sonic finally confronts Robotnik himself yet again...
