New footage has shown how Trent Alexander-Arnold's winning penalty against Switzerland sparked bedlam among the England fans as they celebrated the Three Lions booking their place in the Euro 2024 semi-finals.

Alexander-Arnold stepped up to take England's fifth penalty with the chance to put his side through to the last four and he took it by emphatically smashing his spot-kick into the corner of the net.

The winning moment was filmed in the stands, and the fans did not disappoint as they produced a deafening noise while hugging each other and cheering England's heroes.

The clip also shows England's player streaming onto the pitch to celebrate with Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Pickford, who earlier saved Manuel Akanji's penalty.

That proved to be one of the biggest moments in the shootout as all five of England's penalty-takers converted their spot-kicks to secure a 5-3 triumph.

The outpouring of emotion from the fans may have been more relief than pure joy after watching their side huff and puff for 120 minutes with little reward.

England fell behind in the 75th minute when Breel Embolo poked Switzerland in front from close range, but Bukayo Saka leveled the score five minutes later.

Both sides had chances in extra time, with Switzerland's Granit Xhaka going closest when he hit the post directly from a corner.

But penalties were needed to separate the two teams, and England came out on top this time.

Despite delivering a series of underwhelming performances at the Euros, England has been well-backed by their fans throughout the tournament, and that remained the case on Saturday night.

England's travelling contingent is now set to flock to Dortmund for Wednesday's semi-final where the Netherlands await them.

Ronald Koeman's side came from behind to beat Turkey 2-1 on Saturday night, and have found form in the knockout stages after finishing third in their group.

Their fans have also taken center stage this summer, turning stadiums into a sea of orange for all of their matches.

Yet England's supporters proved they can also bring the noise as Alexander-Arnold's penalty hit the back of the net, meaning both teams can expect an incredible atmosphere on Wednesday, with a place in the final on the line.
