The United States has signed an agreement with Panama to pay for flights to help remove migrants who enter Panama illegally through the dangerous Darien Gap jungle area. Under the agreement, the US will provide equipment, transportation, logistics, and expertise to help Panama send migrants back to their home countries. Over half a million people crossed through the Darien Gap last year, and Panama's new President has vowed to shut down migration through the area, which he says enables drug and human trafficking.
