Wells Fargo Fires Employees for Faking Work Activity Using Keyboard Simulation

Over a dozen Wells Fargo employees in the wealth and investment management unit were fired in May after an investigation found they were faking work activity through keyboard simulation. The employees were creating the impression of actively working by using devices or software to simulate keyboard typing and other computer activities. Many companies have increased monitoring of remote employees since the pandemic to ensure work is being completed.
