The tragedy has cast a spotlight on the appalling living conditions faced by migrant workers in the Gulf region. An Indian Air Force aircraft brought the mortal remains of the victims back to India, with 24 of the deceased being from Kerala. The arrival of the remains at Kochi Airport was met by grieving families who are struggling to come to terms with their loss.
