Is Elon Musk’s X the New OnlyFans? Users Can Now Post Adult Content and Monetize It

X, formerly Twitter, has changed its terms of service to formally allow users to post adult and pornographic content, where previously it existed in a gray area. Under the new terms, users must label adult content as such, and it will have warnings extending to AI-generated nude content. The move emulates platforms like OnlyFans, where creators can monetize content through subscriber payments. Elon Musk wants to diversify X's revenue away from 90% advertising currently to 45% by 2028, aiming for $10 billion in annual subscription revenue. Early versions of a porn-friendly X fell apart in 2022 due to the inability to screen illegal content like child abuse materials.
