Returning for its eighth year, Christmas at the Botanics 2024 is set to bring festive magic to the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh this winter. Visitors can look forward to a new and awe-inspiring route illuminated by installations from international artists, and the return of off-peak tickets at lower prices on selected evenings in November and December.
This year’s trail will run for six weeks from 21 November to 30 December for 35 nights, transforming the city’s most beautiful visitor attraction, ‘the Botanics’. With over 95,000 visitors experiencing the spectacle last winter, this year’s trail is not to be missed with over 10 new installations. Returning crowd-pleasers include the mesmerising Fire Garden, the Christmas Cathedral which has become a fan-favourite for festive proposals, and Santa himself.
New installations already confirmed for 2024 include:
Robins Trail - features a sparkling flock of red, gold and bronze robins bringing good luck and messages of love at Christmas. Created by artist Cristina Ottonello.
Cranes – displaying a collection of cranes flying overhead: a symbol of good fortune, longevity, hope and healing. Created by UK-based art and design collective, Studio Vertigo.
Mycelium Network - visualising mushrooms, the mycelium network is brought to life through coloured strobes and pulses. Created by artist Stevie Thompson.
