1992 adverts - Greyfriars Bobby

2024-05-29 27

These are adverts shown during the broadcast of the film Greyfriars Bobby in 1992. There are a couple of famous faces in Bruce Jones (Les Battersby from Coronation Street) and Simon Mayo, as well as an unfortunate appearance by Chris Langham (The Thick of It) in a burger advert (well, you can't have everything). There are two ad breaks in total and the commercials are as follows:
1st break: Vo5 Hot oil shampoo (Don't be so mean to your hair), then Vo5 moisturiser & gel spray; Wisdom relfex toothbrush; Radion washing powder (Man followed by various smelly objects); Biactol spot remover (Man hits conveyor belt of green jellies); Viakal drain cleaner (Bruce Jones); Kellogg's Pop Tarts (getting up to go to restaurant), and Walkers Crisps (Simon Mayo Radio 1 Hot Hits offer).
2nd break: Pleasurewood Hills theme park; Cream Silk 2 in 1 shampoo; Remegel indigestion pills; Kellogg's Frosties cereal (Eye of the Tiger baseball); Elmlea cream (Can Harry the cat tell cream from Elmlea?); Birdseye Steak House burgers (Chris Langham - Gratecrashes a US swimming pool barbecue); Country Crocks cheese (food taster); Snickers ice cream snack (Lad can't get satisfaction while watching water event); Ribena squash (Cartoon - circus performers), and Yorkshire Tea (Old fashioned 4 o'clock tea).

(The playlist of all the old adverts can be found here: https://www.dailymotion.com/playlist/x7zrg2. Anyone is welcome to upload my advert videos elsewhere if they wish, as they are here for people to enjoy and they are also rare as not many people think about preserving the adverts).
