DOJ Accuses Boeing of Violating Settlement Agreement Over 737 Max Crashes

The US Department of Justice says Boeing violated a 2021 settlement that protected the company from criminal prosecution related to two fatal 737 Max crashes. The DOJ accused the airplane manufacturer of breaching the agreement by not establishing a compliance and ethics program to prevent and detect violations of U.S. fraud laws in its operations. The settlement was meant to resolve a conspiracy charge over Boeing allegedly deceiving regulators about a flight system implicated in the crashes. Boeing denies violating the agreement and has 30 days to respond to the DOJ.
